Start with the Fondom itself
Before the app does anything for you, it holds what Bafut is — the history, the accounts, the photographs and the language. All of it is open, and none of it needs an account.
Day to day
The six that reach you whether you asked or not
An emergency, a bereavement, a meeting, a birth, a work day, a date. These are looked up at speed, so they stay a grid — each one open to the people it belongs to and closed to everybody else.
Projects & development
What the village is building, and every franc that came in
A development project fails on trust long before it fails on money. So the ledger is the page: what was pledged, what arrived, what it cost, and who gave — visible to the people whose village it is.
- Totals are summed from the record every time the page is drawn. Nobody types in a total, so the total can never disagree with the entries under it.
- A contribution can be given here or handed over the way it always has been, and either way it is the same entry in the same ledger. The app never holds a franc — the payment service moves the money and the ledger reads back what became of it.
- Donors are named where they chose to be named, and counted where they did not.
Digital njangi
The book everyone can see, and nobody can quietly edit
A njangi runs on memory and a paper book, and both are contested at exactly the wrong moment. This keeps the same book, in the open, for the whole group at once.
- Who has paid, how much, and whose turn it is — for the turn you are in, and for every turn before it.
- A correction is a second entry, never an erasure. The first entry stays where it was, which is what makes the book worth trusting.
- The app keeps the book. The money is handed over at the meeting, as it always has been.
Market today
Buy and sell within the Fondom
Farm produce, building materials, skilled work. The app introduces you to somebody from your own village or branch and then gets out of the way.
- Every listing carries where the seller is, so you know whether it is a walk or a journey before you ask.
- Meet the seller and settle it yourselves, or order it and your money is held until you confirm it arrived.
- A listing you withdraw stops reaching anybody immediately, and says so rather than vanishing.
Health
Where to go when you are ill, and when it is open
A directory of the clinics and health centres that serve the Fondom, and the campaigns that come through — vaccination, screening, the ones that only run for a week.
- Opening times and what each facility actually does, so nobody travels to a closed door.
- Campaigns while they are running, and moved out of the way once they have passed.
- It never gives medical advice, and says so on the page. It tells you where to go and who is open.

A history that did not stop at independence
From the Tikar migration to the wars of 1901, from a palace burned in 1907 and raised again by 1910, to a Fondom of more than a hundred thousand people today — with its children scattered across the world.

The palace and its compound, the gateway, the courtyard when it fills. Supplied by the association — and any of them can be swapped for a better one from the back office.
Youth & opportunity
The opening a young person would never have heard about
Scholarships, training, apprenticeships and jobs reach the people already standing near whoever heard first. This puts them in front of every young person in the Fondom at the same moment.
- Openings with their closing dates, so nothing sits on the page after it has shut.
- Mentors who offered — people from Bafut who have already done the thing somebody is starting.
- An application is between the young person and whoever posted it. The association does not sit in the middle of it.
Diaspora
Everywhere the Manjong has reached
Bafut people are in Douala and Yaoundé, in Lagos, in Europe and in North America. A chapter is how a group of them finds each other, and how the Fondom reaches all of them at once.
- Chapters by city, with whoever convenes them and how to join.
- A bereavement or a project at home reaches the diaspora in the same moment it reaches the village.
- The directory publishes only what a member chose to publish — a trade, a town, a way to be reached.
Events & competitions
Inter-village sport, and everything the Fondom has coming
A fixture list the villages argue about is a fixture list people turn out for. The table is computed from the results every time it is drawn, so it can never disagree with them.
- Fixtures ahead, results behind, and a table that is arithmetic rather than an opinion.
- Community work days ranked two ways at once — by total hours, and by hours per member, so a small village is not beaten by a large one for being small.
- Everything dated in the Fondom lands on one calendar.
Join
Register under your Village and manjong branch / manjong chapter
46+ villages. Say where you are from and the Manjong can find you — for a meeting, a project, a bereavement, or an opportunity meant for your people.
Registering is not the same as being recognised. Someone who runs your village confirms you are from there before the things that belong to that village open to you. It is one press for them, and it is what keeps your village’s book, its minutes and its bereavements closed to everybody else.
